When we opened our first restaurant in Omaha many years ago, few people were familiar with the food we serve,” remarks Ahmad Nabulsi, owner of El Basha Mediterranean Grill. “Today it’s much more popular.”
Menu items like hummus, falafel, and shawarma no longer seem exotic to most Omaha residents, and customers keep coming back to El Basha because they appreciate the quality of the food.
“We use very basic, simple ingredients so everything is fresh and tasty. Nothing is precooked,” explains Nabulsi. “Our lentil soup is a popular choice for lunch, and our main-dish salads are filling but not too heavy. If somebody is really hungry, we recommend ordering the mixed grill.”
El Basha operated at 84th and Dodge streets for three years before moving to its current location at 75th and Pacific streets more than 10 years ago. The Nabulsi family previously owned a restaurant at Rockbrook Village during the 1990s. El Basha is open for lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday. Carryout is available, and the restaurant provides catering for business meetings and special events.
