Music Moves, Thursday, Dec. 10:
If you follow the guidelines and wear your masks, you too can enjoy live music once again. Surreal the MC presents Zeus at The Waiting Room Lounge, with performances from Disorderly Conduct Music, Mars Black, Kut Masta Skutt, and DJs Houston Alexander and E Babbs. Purchase tickets to this show here, and if virtual events are more your jam right now, be sure to check out all the livestream events they offer here.
Coffee and Caroling, Friday, Dec. 11:
Mix up your own special coffee, or whatever you prefer to drink, and sit down for an evening of coffeehouse jazz courtesy of the Home for the Holidays online concert series from Countryside Community Church. The Countryside Jazz musicians will continue the tradition of performing your favorite Christmas carols, but now you can listen while relaxing at home in your comfy pajamas if you want. Or make an evening of it and dress up like you’re going to a live jazz show. Keep an eye out for other shows in this series here.
Treats for All, Saturday, Dec. 12:
Pets need presents, too. Help the Nebraska Humane Society treat shelter animals by attending the NHS Stocking Stuffer Drive. This is a drive-through drop-off event happening at their location on Fort Street. They will be collecting toys, treats, and other pet supplies from 10 a.m. to noon. Bring something for all the cats and dogs who don’t have a home this Christmas, and maybe meet your new furever friend. Participants will be able to meet some cheery, heartwarming shelter dogs and get a little hot cocoa to warm their hands. Dig up more info here.
Community Bonding, Sunday, Dec. 13:
Band of the Strong is having a special Band Together with Your Community event in the roundabout at Ralston High School from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. They will be handing out free cigar-box guitars for you and your family to use as a canvas and offering the opportunity to share your art and the story behind it. At a later date, participants will gather in an outdoor space to place each guitar together in a community art piece, where you can share your story. Learn more about the event here, and read about the men who started it all here.
Event times and details may change. Check with venue or event organizer to confirm.
