Holiday House, Through Jan. 8:
It’s not too late to check out Holidays at the General Crook House Museum and take in the festive decor. This year’s event theme is “Sounds of the Season,” celebrating holiday carols and songs. Every room offers a glimpse into Christmases past. A paper guide is available to guide your tour, and a docent guide can be available if scheduled ahead of time. Visiting groups must be eight people or less to ensure social distancing. Masks are required for entry, and holiday hours may vary (closed New Year’s Day). Dig up more about this event, and others at the museum, here.
Keep Believing, Through Jan. 10:
There’s just over one week to get to The Durham Museum to check out the Jim Henson Exhibit. This comprehensive exhibition includes works from The Muppet Show, Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock, The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth (a personal favorite), and more. You can view a broad range of artifacts related to Henson’s career, including more than 20 puppets, character sketches, storyboards, scripts, photographs, film and television clips, behind-the-scenes footage, and iconic costumes. There are also interactive experiences available. Learn more here.
Poppin’ Bubbles on NYE, Thursday, Dec. 31:
You know the drill—Omaha Children’s Museum is having their annual Bubbly New Year’s Eve Party. Children can enjoy a bubble wrap stomp, roaming bubble show, and more, including a goody bag of New Year’s Eve swag. Special guests may pop in throughout the day, so be on the lookout. The fun starts at noon, and the final countdown is at 6:45 p.m. Capacity is limited, so make your reservations here now!
Masks or face coverings are required for everyone ages 5 and older, and highly recommended for kids between 2-5 who are able to wear one.
Music Magic, Thursday, Dec. 31:
Count down to 2021 at The Jewell’s NYE Celebration with Omaha’s Finest Artists. There are two special showings, with beloved Omaha musicians Enjoli Mitchell, Aly Peeler, Myles Jasnowski, Mitch Towne, Andrew Bailie, and David Hawkins. If you make it to the 8:30 p.m. performance, you’ll also have the opportunity to enjoy dinner with your show. Two glasses of champagne (or two non-alcoholic drinks) are included with each music ticket, and, as always, there is a two-beverage minimum, including NA beverages per person. Get all the details here, and purchase your tickets here.
Eleganza Extravaganza, Friday, Jan. 1:
We trust you already know what you’re doing for NYE. (Staying in with the pets over here.) But if you’re looking for something to do on New Year’s Day and you love a good drag race, head downtown to Flixx Lounge for RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 13 Viewing Party. Join Lucy Furr Roxia every Friday for some drinks, laughs, shade, and realness. Sashay over here for all the tea.
Event times and details may change. Check with venue or event organizer to confirm.
