“TEKNOLUST: Clones are People Two” Virtual Screening, NE Science Festival, Thursday, April 1 to Friday, April 2: 
Kick off the 2021 Nebraska Science Festival with a virtual screening of the 2002 science fiction comedy Teknolust. As part of admission, Nebraska Science Festival will have a pre-recorded, online forum with medical scholars to converse about modern genetics, cloning ethics, and other scientific and ethical themes presented by the film. The Festival is partnering with UNMC to host Safwan Elkhatib and Kacie Baum on the panel. Regular admission applies; get your tickets here! 

Events for Easter Weekend 2021

  • EXPLORE: Trek a bit out of town for an epic springtime celebration. Master’s Hand Tekamah lauds their “Spring Fling” festivities as “The Best Easter Egg Hunt This Side of the Mississippi,” so you don’t want to miss this 11-year tradition. This year on Saturday, April 3, the hunt will include 20,000 eggs, animal shows, musical performances, and more! Register your family to attend here.

  • Craft the day away at The Wonder Nook. On Saturday, April 3 at 10 a.m., the shop will read “Curious George Colors Eggs,” and have stations for families to create springtime centerpieces and other decorations together. Bring your own boiled eggs, and The Wonder Nook will provide dye and accessories. Each family will receive a copy of the Curious George book to bring home. $15 per child, $10 for siblings: email [email protected] to reserve your spot! 

  • The Water’s Edge is bringing back their annual WE Community Easter Celebration & Egg Hunt on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Water’s Edge will gather inside for a special Family Easter Program, followed by a 10,000-egg hunt! The event will have special egg hunt areas for a variety of age groups. RSVP on Facebook here.

  • The Easter Bunny will be making a stop at the Omaha Children’s Museum on Friday, April 2, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., for photo opportunities, a special egg drop challenge in the Tinker Studio, and a craft station to make your own Easter bonnet. 2021 BFF Omaha Benson Banner Tour, Friday, April 2: 

It’s First Friday again! Join the BFF Omaha Crew to celebrate and congratulate the local artists selected to design the streetlight banners in the Benson neighborhood. The launch will begin with an opening reception at Edge of The Universe, where you’ll meet the artists and gear up for the tour. At 7:15 p.m., the artists will take attendees on a tour of the banners, showcasing the artworks, the inspiration behind them, and the background of the artists who created them. Self-guided tours will also be available with pamphlets at Edge of the Universe. RSVP to attend here! 

Tribute to Aretha Franklin with Omaha Symphony, Friday, April 2, and Saturday, April 3: 

Capathia Jenkins will be channeling the Queen of Soul with her show-stopping vocals this weekend, accompanied by the Omaha Symphony. Reserve your tickets for April 2 and 3 to enjoy the Holland Center filling with the best sounds of Aretha Franklin’s greatest hits, including “Respect,” “Think,” “Natural Woman,” and more. Salvador Dali Stairway to Heaven Exhibition at El Museo Latino, Friday, April 2 to Wednesday, April 14, 2021: 

A new curated collection is on display at El Museo Latino starting this Friday. Curated by David S. Rubin, the exhibition compares and studies two of the artist’s most famous portfolios: illustrations for the Comte de Lautreamont’s Les Chants de Maldoror, and art for Dante Alighieri’s The Divine Comedy. El Museo Latino will have 143 prints signed by Dali on display from April 2 - August 7, 2021. Reserve your advance time slot here.
