Historical Lithographs, Through April 11:
Now that the hectic holiday season is over, a little rest and relaxation are in order. What better way escape than to immerse yourself in the past by viewing Joslyn Art Museum’s Revisiting America: The Prints of Currier & Ives? In 2016, ConAgra Foods, Inc. (now Conagra Brands) donated nearly 600 Currier & Ives lithographs to the museum, making it home to one of the largest public collections of these popular and historically significant images. Songs of the South, Friday, Jan. 15:
In case you didn’t know, Alexis Arai is one of Omaha’s most talented vocalists. With a four-octave range and an eclectic style, she is able to transition from jazz to Latin to pop. You can listen to this music dynamo when you attend Latin Music Series Presents Alexis Arai y Su Grupo Latino at The Jewell. The multitalented singer and her band will be performing all types of Latin music and will feature special guest dancers and singers. This is also her birthday bash, so be ready to celebrate! Don’t You Dare (Miss This), Friday, Jan. 15 to Sunday, Jan. 17:
Give your family a little “getaway” by attending Weekend at Arendalle-Frozen Event at Omaha Children’s Museum. There will be themed activity stations, including a wintry princess station, snowflake station, and a Sven station. They will also have a wandering S.T.E.A.M. Cart offering “Freezing Cold Science Shows” several times each day. Naturally, Frozen characters will be making appearances throughout the weekend. Wilkins, Williams, and Dvořák, Friday, Jan. 15 and Saturday, Jan. 16:

Don’t miss maestro Thomas Wilkins leading the Omaha Symphony in the first of his five final concerts remaining during his tenure with the orchestra. Wilkins will direct Vaughan Williams’ “Fantasia on a Theme of Thomas Tallis” and Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8 at the Holland Performing Arts Center Peter Kiewit Concert Hall. This performance continues the celebration of the Omaha Symphony’s redesigned centennial season, which includes a diverse slate of concerts with something for everyone. Purchase tickets here.
Looking Up, Saturday, Jan. 16:
The Indoor Air Show at SAC Museum brings the air show inside with remote-controlled (R/C) and control line (C/L) model planes. Starting at 10 a.m., model pilots will demonstrate all of the loops, flips, and barrel rolls in the museum’s climate-controlled Durham Restoration Hangar. Several R/C clubs will fly throughout the day. A viewing will be set up in Hangar B and on the Gilbert M. & Martha H. Hitchcock Observation Gallery. Monday, Jan. 18: Douglas County Commissioner Chris Rodgers is the keynote speaker at the 2021 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration, co-hosted by Nebraska Medicine and UNMC. This annual event will be held virtually from noon to 1 p.m.

Tuesday, Jan. 19: During this round of Science Café, three University of Nebraska Medical Center infectious disease experts will discuss the FDA-authorized COVID-19 vaccines, as well as UNMC’s Phase 3 clinical trial of an investigational COVID-19 vaccine for adults. This event will also be available via Facebook Live, and begins here at 10 a.m. (Viewers do not need a Facebook account to view the livestream.)
