Longevity and tradition exemplify Cascio’s Steakhouse. Established in 1946 by brothers Al and Joe Cascio, the restaurant is still going strong 72 years later. Joe’s son, Larry, bought the steakhouse from Al in 1999, and Larry’s son, Alfie, took over in 2008 when Larry retired. Alfie is currently preparing his son, Brennan, to carry on the family tradition of restaurant ownership.
Alfie is a hands-on owner who has done every job from carrying trays to cutting meat. “There’s nothing I can’t do in here, that’s for sure,” Alfie remarks. “I’ve done it all.”
One task he rarely has to do is hire new people. “We have about 45 employees, and they’ve all been with me for a long time,” Alfie comments. Customers are equally loyal to Cascio’s because the food is so good. The restaurant serves only certified Angus beef, and everything on the menu is prepared from scratch. “We simmer our spaghetti sauce for up to eight hours with pork bones,” Alfie explains. “We have a lot of customers who buy jars of sauce to take home.”
