Get ready, Omaha—it’s time for the second year of GRRRL CAMP Music Festival this Friday and Saturday, July 19th and 20th! It’s the festival for celebrating and empowering women, queer individuals, and art lovers from all backgrounds.
The festival is trying to give representation within a time that matters, “Women and non-binary individuals currently make up only 19-26% of the majority of nationally-renowned music festival lineups,” however, at GRRRL CAMP, women and non-binary individuals represent 100% of the lineup.
The festival takes place at Falconwood Park in Bellevue, only a short drive from the downtown heart of Omaha. The event features a full lineup of performers, artist installations, poet spotlights, feminist workshops, and local vendors all of which women lead and run. You can even sleep under the stars at GRRRL CAMP at the campgrounds for the full experience.
“Last year’s event was amazing; seeing how everyone came together in such a short amount of time inspired us to elevate the festival for 2024; with 1% productions’ support, we’re bringing in acts that we wouldn’t be able to otherwise, and it will set the tone for the future,” said Shannon Claire, Falconwood Park executive director/talent buyer and founder of GRRRL CAMP.
The festival includes headliner Indigo De Souza, whose recent 2023 album, “All of this Will End,” was credited on the Best Album List of Rolling Stone, NPR Music, and others. The second headliner, Mannequin Pussy, will play hits and songs from their acclaimed 2024 album, “I Got Heaven.” The rest of GRRRL CAMP’s empowered lineup includes Hurray for the Riff Raff, Shannon and The Clams, and emerging artists deserving of the spotlight.
If you’re wondering what you will be doing into the night, GRRRL CAMP has you covered with GRRRL CAMP AFTER HOURS. Once the clock strikes midnight, festival goers can get amped up for more celebration at Falconwood Lodge featuring DJ’s and live performances both nights.
