Sporty Santa Stops, Through Dec. 24:
Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s are continuing their tradition of Santa’s Wonderland in-person in Council Bluffs and La Vista this holiday season with a reimagined, contactless, free experience. Santa and his elves are prioritizing your safety, including the use of a Magic Santa Shield, temperature screenings, physical distancing, and a special sanitation squad. Online reservations are open, but spots are limited to allow appropriate physical distancing and additional cleaning, so be sure to register here for Bass Pro and here for Cabela’s.
Holiday on Harney, Thursday, Dec. 17 through Thursday, Dec. 31:
Immerse yourself in the Christmas spirit when you attend Miracle at Mercury (Lounge), a holiday pop-up bar. Revel in the kitsch while you sip on a festive themed cocktail. The adorable glassware is also available for sale, with 10% of all proceeds from the sale of Santa Pants, Christmas Carol Barrel, and Santa Heads signature glassware going to the James Beard Foundation Open for Good campaign to aid the relief efforts of independent restaurants. For those who would like to avoid the holiday crowds, they are also offering to-go cocktails, and you can still purchase those sweet glasses. For more information, contact Mercury here.
A Berry Merry Christmas, Friday, Dec. 18 to Sunday, Dec. 20:
The folks at Bellevue Berry & Pumpkin Ranch are inviting you to their Country Christmas at the Bellevue Berry Farm. Santa Claus will be stopping by, giving everyone the opportunity to snap a photo with the jolly one. Those 13 and over will get a cup of hot chocolate and a cookie, and children will receive a special Christmas Craft Bag. Attendees can also take advantage of Wonderland Kids Play Areas, a bonfire, and (weather permitting) wagon rides. COVID-19 safety regulations will be followed, so masks are required. Learn more here.
The Spirit of Christmas, Saturday, Dec. 19:
In your weekly donation information, make room for the new by participating in the Drive-by Donations for Siena Francis House at All Holy Spirit Greek Orthodox Church. Sunday school volunteers and the Philoptochos, (also referred to as the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society, Inc.), will help make this a safe, touchless drive-through event. They will be accepting donations of toys, clothing, and food on behalf of Siena Francis. Read more about the event here, and learn more about the Philoptochos here.
Trivia Train, Saturday, Dec. 19:
Those looking for a fun event to attend without leaving the house this weekend can sign up for the Steam Into Saturday Virtual Happy Hour and Trivia at Union Pacific Railroad Museum. Celebrate the end of the year and the beginning of winter by mixing up a cocktail and putting your knowledge to the test.
