We almost installed a live cam to stream how happy, passionate, and cool we are. But, we realized that we are likewise real people and don’tbrwant to scare the customers. Cups fall and break. Our story started back in 2005 withbrDave and Martha sitting on the green bean bags one night in the first weekbrafter they bought The Bean. The one thing they could completely agree on wasbrthat they didn’t want to be pretentious coffee roasters. We knew it’d be easybrto slip into that sense of exaggerated self-importance in life living in thebrmicroscopic bubble of a small coffee industry business, whether it’s a roasterybror a coffeehouse – you hang out being coffee geeks about coffee, you get waybrover-caffeinated, and you work open to close seven days a week so you onlybrdrink your own coffee, and the next thing you know you’ve lost your connectionbrto real coffee, and to real customers because you’re living in that bubble. Asbrone of our vintage tee shirts says, ‘we roasted coffee before it was cool”.brAnyway, we had a moment of prescience and decided NOT to forget who we are, andbrwhat we do. We are in the business ofbrbuying really great green beans, roasting them to their sweet spot, and sharingbrthem with our customers at reasonable prices with great service. Nobraffectations. No judgment about cream, sugar, or even flavored creamer.
