The creative energy in Omaha is undeniable. Our city hosts everything from public art displays and cutting-edge contemporary art centers to acclaimed museums, galleries, and community spaces. In this annual Arts & Culture edition, we’re pleased to highlight some of the most notable contributors who keep our arts community thriving.
Marsalis Anderson-Clausell and Alexandra Hoffman, dancers with American Midwest Ballet, exemplify the athleticism of dance. The duo’s discipline is something to marvel at—as are their visually elegant performances. Meanwhile, Bekah Jerde of Radio Talking Book Service, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary, helps provide human-voiced information to the blind, visually impaired, and those with physical disabilities.
I had the privilege of highlighting the diverse arts and cultural programming at Joslyn Castle and Gardens in our main feature. As you read on, you'll meet Executive Director Amy Richardson, the keeper of this stunning Omaha landmark. For over 120 years, the castle has upheld the Joslyn family’s legacy, and under Richardson's leadership, a new arts district is among the many initiatives guiding it into another spectacular century.
It's time again for Omaha Magazine’s annual Best of Omaha contest! Since 1992, Best of Omaha has been the city’s most trusted “Best Of” contest. There is certainly no shortage of categories, including the best Sunday Brunch Spot, Fitness Club, Hair Salon, Haunted House, Nightclub—you name it! Your vote supports the businesses you know and love—we invite you to read the special Campaign section in this issue to learn more. Voting runs from July 1 to August 20.
For a voting experience more convenient than ever, we’ve moved everything to one place this year: Omaha Magazine's website! Share your opinions with us and vote for your favorites at bestofomaha.com.
