The staff at The Coffee Roaster offers their customers a unique experience. A recent expansion and remodel features glass doors to give visitors a glimpse of beans being roasted on site.
“The roaster used to be kind of hidden in the back, and now it’s really on display for people to see,” said Sam Karnes, who is co-owner of The Coffee Roaster with her husband, Vince Ruhl.
The Coffee Roaster is thriving in its 30th year of business. “We’re Lincoln’s only air roastery,” Ruhl said.
Their roastery processes beans for sale to commercial customers, such as coffee shops, as well as in smaller quantities to individual households. The business also sells grinding and brewing equipment, bulk tea, and other products from local artisans.
Future plans include introducing a pour-over coffee bar, so customers can sample various blends.
“Our goal is to enhance the customer experience by giving them a way to explore our menu one cup at a time,” Ruhl said. “This allows them to try unique coffees or branch out from a favorite before committing to a full bag.”
