Club Pilates owner Christine Krueger said that although Pilates originated as a form of exercise for exceptionally fit dancers and elite athletes, instructors now work with people at various fitness levels, including beginners. Group classes are available seven days a week throughout the day, Krueger said. “We’re not just offering Pilates as a side note.”
Club Pilates’s instructors must complete 500 hours of training before they’re certified to teach. They can also alter exercises for individual special situations.
“This is something that is not about just looking good. It can also help you recover from an injury or perhaps a surgery,” Krueger said. “Private sessions can actually be customized to that person’s needs and we can give them a modification so they can do an exercise that will still work the same muscles, but not aggravate the injury…We’ve had people say their physical therapist tells them to come and do pilates. If insurance only covers so many physical therapy sessions, a great next step is to start a pilates practice.”
