Reverb Lounge is understandably a favorite spot in Omaha—a small, intimate live music venue with an extensive drink selection that encourages community interaction through music. Tuesday, October 15 was no exception. Breaking out fog machines and dancing lights, death metal band Skeletal Remains headlined this head-banging show.
With other bands Witch Vomit, Phobophilic, and Bewitcher, the signature deep vocals and guitar riffs of heavy metal music shook the building and had fans jamming in the back and moshing in the front. Despite some technical difficulties toward the beginning of the night, the enveloping sound filled the space with an electrifying energy.
Bewitcher prefaced Skeletal Remains with a more melodic sound, showing off their musical talent. Members Infernal Magus of Nocturnal Alchemy (bass), Unholy Weaver of Shadows & Incantations (guitar, vocals), and Aris Wales (drums) lived up to their names and delivered black magic energy.
Mike De La O (guitar), Chris Monroy (guitar, vocals), and Brian Rush (bass) of Skeletal Remains closed out the night with a more traditional death metal vibe. Their newest album, “Fragments of the Ageless,” showcases their cohesiveness, complete with Monroy’s haunting vocals and rhythm changes that keep listeners on their toes.
As every metal show should, Tuesday night had horns in the air and heads toward the floor, energizing the audience late into the night. To see Reverb’s upcoming shows, visit reverblounge.com.
