Sweeney Todd, Friday, Feb. 25 and Sunday, Feb. 27:
Opera Omaha takes on a dark, thrilling stage favorite, the Tony Award-winning Sondheim musical Sweeney Todd. Two of Omaha’s best artists, conductor Hal France and director Susan Clement-Toberer, lead an all-star cast through this deadly tale. Zachary James stars in the title role, opposite Emily Pulley, returning to Opera Omaha in the role of Nellie Lovett, ready to terrify opera audiences with Sweeney Todd’s unforgettable score. Fans of opera of all types can get tickets to be thrilled by the Demon Barber of Fleet Street this weekend here. 

Artist Talk with Stephanie Dinkins, Friday, Feb. 25:  
This Friday at 7 p.m., Bemis Center is hosting a live chat with artist Stephanie Dinkins, covering Love, Data, and Technologies Rooted in Care. Dinkins will discuss the ways in which algorithms are rooted in practices that limit our ability to place care at the center of tech, building a world absent of complexity. Dinkins, who teaches at Stony Brook University, uses her art and her talks to advocate for inclusive artificial intelligence. Crash Test Dummies at The Waiting Room Lounge, Friday, Feb. 25:   
Celebrating the 30th anniversary of their first album, “The Ghosts That Haunt Me,” Crash Test Dummies are touring North America. Original members Brad Roberts, Ellen Reid, Dan Roberts, and Mitch Dorge will be joined onstage by Stuart Cameron and Marc Arnould to replay some of their top hits. Favorites such as “Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm,” will echo this Friday evening at The Waiting Room Lounge starting at 8 p.m. Tickets, starting at $35, can be bought here.

The Sixth Annual Mac & Cheese Binge, Saturday, Feb. 26:  
Midtown Crossing is renewing the much-anticipated Mac & Cheese Binge for the sixth time, to celebrate one of the universal favorite food groups. This year’s menu will feature samples from Liquid Sunshine Taproom, Pa Mas Taqueria & Grill, Smoking’ Oak Wood-Fired Pizza, and Wohlner’s Neighborhood Grocery. Each restaurant will offer $4 macaroni and cheese samples, along with a variety of drink pairings. Mac & Cheese lovers can visit Midtown Crossing to vote for their favorite dish, have a few drinks, and hear a live performance by The Polka Police from 12-3 p.m. at Liquid Sunshine Taproom. Arturo O’Farrill and the Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra, Saturday, Feb. 26:
Pianist, composer, and educator Arturo O’Farrill brings an unmatched live music experience to Omaha, along with his Afro-Latin Jazz orchestra. This world-class performance features jazz music that is exciting, technical, and incredibly listenable. A seven-time Latin Grammy-award winner, O’Farrill has expanded the definition of Afro-Latin music. Attendees are encouraged to come early to the Holland Center and enjoy a pre-show discussion with University of Nebraska at Omaha students and faculty. The show starts at 7:30 p.m., and tickets are available here.
