The human immune system is complex and highly individualized, so what one person can easily tolerate may cause a reaction in someone else that can range from annoying to dangerous. Careful assessment and quality professional care are key to effectively treating the broad spectrum of allergic diseases, said Dr. Jim Friedlander of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Associates.

“We provide comprehensive care for patients with all types of disorders,” he explained. “Those include environmental allergies, food allergies, medication allergies, stinging insect allergies, asthma, eczema, chronic hives, and swallowing disorders. We also have particular expertise in patients with recurrent infections who have an immunodeficiency.”

Allergies don’t have to be life-threatening to affect quality of life, Friedlander added. Seasonal allergies not only make patients feel miserable throughout the year, but also can weaken the immune system if they aren’t treated effectively.

“We have treatment options ranging from medication management to immunotherapy,” Friedlander said. “Many allergy sufferers aren’t aware that there are effective long-term treatment options which don’t involve taking daily medications,” Friedlander said. Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Associates has multiple locations throughout Nebraska and western Iowa.
