Drive the Blues Away, Thursday, Dec. 3:
The Blues Society of Omaha’s BSO Holiday Jam is happening at Stocks n Bonds, starting at 5 p.m. Jam hosts include Ben Curran, Tim Koehn, Gaylon Prince, Jerry Steinke, and Justin Shelton. It’s a large venue, so practice social distancing and, of course, don’t forget your mask. For those who don’t feel comfortable heading inside, please consider driving by to drop off a toy or few at the Toy Drive for Pine Ridge, which will be happening outside. Learn more here.

Donate and Dance, Friday, Dec. 4:
Do you know what day it is? It’s been a minute, but once again we have a BFF event for you! GenQ WrapUp, presented by BFF and MAHA, is happening at The Waiting Room. Naturally, it being the season and all, there is a giving aspect. A Winter Clothing Drive Drop-Off Site benefiting Heartland Family Service will be set up, and all event-goers are encouraged to bring an article of new or used warm winter clothing to donate. Safety measures are in place, so you may want to arrive early for this free event happening at 7 p.m. Get all the details here.

Focusing on Good, Friday, Dec. 4 to Sunday, Dec. 20:
We could all use a little reminder that things aren’t as bad as they seem, and the classic tale of It’s a Wonderful Life will certainly help with that. Join businessman George Bailey as he reviews his life and realizes it holds more meaning than he thought. Embrace your inner angel and focus on the good in life as we head into a holiday season that will likely look different for a lot of us this year. This show was the first show presented at The Rose Theater, and now they are bringing it to your home. Purchase your digital tickets here.

Sparking Joy, Saturday, Dec. 5:
Did you know that some of your neighbors suffer from food insecurity? Fortunately, it’s easy to lend a helping hand. Did you stock up on canned goods or bags of rice during the initial pandemic scare and now you’re wondering what to do with all that tuna? (Just me? Seriously, I don’t even like tuna that much!) Take them to the Shine the Light on Hunger Drive-Up Community Food Drive at Food Bank for the Heartland this weekend. A list of their most needed items are below, and you can find more details here.

  • Peanut butter
  • Macaroni & cheese
  • Canned tuna & chicken
  • Cereal
  • Pancake mix
  • Canned fruit & vegetables
  • Pork & beans
  • Pasta & sauce
  • Boxed meal
Event times and details may change. Check with venue or event organizer to confirm.
