Art Auction, Thursday, Oct. 1:

While things are certainly different this year, that doesn’t mean we can’t appreciate some incredible art. The Bemis Center for Contemporary Art is still having their Benefit Art Auction Exhibition, which you can view online starting today. In-person viewing is also available by appointment. Online bidding will take place October 24–30. If you plan on buying or bidding on artwork, be sure to register an account here. Read more details here.

Celebrating Culture, Friday, Oct. 2:

Black Culxr Matters Block Fest celebrates North 24th Street’s rich history and culture while promoting awareness of racial justice issues, the history of the civil rights movement, and voting. There will be food, live music, an arts crawl, kids zone, and more. The event is happening from 2-8 p.m., with special guest speakers at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Learn more about this event here.

Junk Harvest, Friday, Oct. 2 to Sunday, Oct. 4 and Friday, Oct. 9 to Sunday, Oct. 11:

Junkstock is back with their Junkstock: Harvest Edition. Event organizers have added a second weekend to make up for missing their spring show due to COVID-19 shutdowns. This marks their 22nd Junkstock and the joys of fall with shopping, a pumpkin house, hayrack rides, bonfires, and other fall favorites. Shop over 180 vintage vendors and makers from across the country and try food from 24 food trucks and artisan food vendors. You can also listen to music from 11 bands, drink some pumpkin beer, and bask in the feel of fall. For more details, head here.

A Blackstone Bash, Saturday, Oct. 3:

The party on Farnam Street is back. Farnam Fest 2020 is happening this Saturday, with plenty of live music, drinks, a maker’s market, and my personal favorite, a pet parade. (Costumes encouraged.) Don’t miss Friday’s bonus event, the Food Truck Rally, with dueling DJs Crabrangucci (who we featured here) and the one and only Kobrakyle. Organizers have been careful to plan a safe, socially distanced event, with events occurring across three locations in the district, temperature checks, and hand sanitizer provided by Brickway. For the full set list, click here.

Movie Music Magic, Sunday, Oct. 4:

The Omaha Symphony and Boomer Radio are bringing you a night of Music from the Movies. The orchestra will take the stage to play beautiful music from movies, Broadway, and opera. Masks will be required, and social distancing will be enforced. Admission is free, but RSVP via ticket reservation is required. More details about this event are here. You can also enjoy the music of Holst, Tchaikovsky, Jessie Montgomery, and more during the previous evening's concert, Saturday, Oct. 3. Both events were to be outside, but have been moved inside. Learn more about Saturday night's event here

Event times and details may change. Check with venue or event organizer to confirm.
