Joslyn Reopens, Friday, Aug. 7:

Joslyn Art Museum is reopening its doors to the community on Friday, Aug. 7, 2020, with early access for members on Aug. 5 and 6. Along with their permanent collection galleries, the exhibition Fact and Fiction in Contemporary Photography will be free and open to everyone through Oct. 18, 2020. Reserve tickets in advance here, and don’t forget about Garden Yoga, happening on Sunday mornings through Sept. 7.
Several other Omaha museums have chosen to open this day as well. Check to see if you can visit your favorites in person yet, and please note their policies regarding ticketing, masks, and social distancing.  

BFF Members Only Happy Hour with Dor Woul, Friday, Aug. 7:

Fridays are for BFFs and happy hours, and there’s none better than the BFF Members Only Happy Hour. This month, the folks from Benson First Friday and The Sydney are celebrating the New American Arts Festival-Reframed, so there’s a special performance by Sudanese hip-hop artist Dor Wuol. Due to COVID-19, the New American Arts Festival on Military Avenue in downtown Benson will consist of gallery exhibits on Maple St. hosted by BFF Omaha, as well as virtual performances and an online artisan market. 

Nebraska Balloon and Wine Festival Friday, Aug. 7 to Saturday, Aug. 8:

It’s time to let your cares float away, in a balloon, at the Nebraska Balloon and Wine Festival. Nosh on tasty food from Greek to Thai to barbecue while tasting the local wines and beer. Listen (and dance) to music from Live Wire Band on Friday, and Front Ro and High Heel on Saturday. There’s even fun for children, with a special KidZone and, of course, the balloon launch taking place around 7 p.m. Get your tickets here now.

Back to School Family Night at Gifford Farm, Saturday, Aug. 8:

The people of Gifford Farm invite you to their Back to School Family Night event this Saturday, where you can visit the animals of Gifford Farm. Experience hands-on demonstrations, explore the Outdoor Nature Classroom, and take a hayride while enjoying the great outdoors. Learn more here.

Fashion Happy Hour, Sunday, Aug. 9: 

For the fashion-forward, face masks are not merely a safety measure, they’re another way to express their personal style. If you’d like to do the same, head to the Trap Room on Sunday for Fashion Happy Hour. Sip on one of their concoctions while shopping for gorgeous face masks made by local fashion designers.
